I'd Like to Thank the Academy. . . .

Or rather, I'd like to thank Rebecca for giving me this Sunshine Award. It means a lot coming from her, whose blog I turn to daily for wit and wisdom. And thank you to Luke for being honest with the haircut lady. From now on when I need a good chuckle I will think of that conversation. Thank you to Lance, Lacey, and Lia, also, for being so dang cute. And last but not least, Thank You to Alex for giving me these beautiful children. You're the best! Oh, and Thank You to Heavenly Father for everything I have. I couldn't do it without You.

Overheard: Luke to the Lady Cutting His Hair

Luke: My brother said I can't have a girlfriend.
Lady: Oh, he did?
Luke: Yeah. You have to be eight. . . or seven.
Lady: You have to be seven or eight to have a girlfriend?
Luke: But I already have a girlfriend.
Lady: Well, we won't tell your brother.

Rants and Raves

First the raves:I love the Primary songs, so I am happy that I am the Primary chorister. Not a week goes by that I don't feel the Spirit as we sing songs like "I Know that My Savior Loves Me" and "He Sent His Son." Boyd K. Packer said "We are able to feel and learn very quickly through music. . . some spiritual things that we would otherwise learn very slowly." I can see that the Primary children are learning very quickly the truths of the Gospel of Jesus Christ that are taught in the beautiful songs we sing.
Second rave: Retail therapy is not made up. Yesterday I went shopping at Kohl's and bought the kids some new spring clothes. It's been rainy and cloudy this week, but I found that as I picked out clothes that are bright spring colors, my mood brightened as well.

Now the rants(feel free to skip this if you don't want to hear me go off): I had a doctor appointment last week at a general practitioner's office. I went to him because he is close and on our insurance and I wanted to get my thyroid checked. When I signed in I expected to get a clipboard with forms for new patients, but somebody walked in behind me and the receptionist started helping him. I stood at the desk until she asked if I needed help. I told her that I was a new patient and didn't I need to fill out some forms. She said yes and gave me a clipboard. Then the lady that had signed in 25 minutes before me said that she also was a new patient and needed the forms. They should have known we were coming in and been ready with the forms right away. So then I waited almost an hour and they said you're next that will be $20 for a co-payment. I took out my debit card and they said, "Oh, our machine is down. We're only taking cash." A simple sign put up saying that would have allowed me to go out while I was waiting instead of right before I was to meet with the doctor. By then it was after 6p.m. and I was super annoyed. So then the doctor came in and asked me why I wanted my thyroid checked and I told him that I lost 20 lbs. after my baby was born and then gained it back and she's only five months old and my ob/gyn said it might be a thyroid issue. So then he gave me a lesson about calorie deficits and didn't mention anything about thyroid. My biggest problem with that was I felt like I wasn't being heard. I said weight and he jumped on that ( I should have known since he had "Medical Weight Loss" posters all over his office.) I think that's my biggest pet peeve ever: when I think I'm not being heard. I saw in the paper that a lady is giving a seminar on how a complaint is a gift. Well I have a few gifts for the doctor next time I see him.
